Avalon Acoustics first demonstrated the 2C3D system in the mid 90s with the Radian speakers powered by Spectral electronics and MIT cabling. The results were spectacular, even jaw dropping. Despite the breathtaking 2C3D soundstage and imaging, there is an occasionally distracting over spiciness in the high and mid, they were not able to deliver the same spatial cues in the bass region.

Even if we take a step back and forget about these lofty ultimate audiophile standards, the Avalon Eidolon are a pair of speakers that will impress even the most casual listener. The level of details, transparent, and dazzling channel separation will impress anyone who listen to your audio system if you have a pair of these.

The Eidolon is bottom ported, so the supplied metal cones must be used to lift the speakers off the floor for proper air flow to the ports (3 cones per speaker - 2 in the back and one in the middle front). This is a pair of extremely precise speakers. The cones elevates them just enough for the proper air flow clearance. It is not advisable to elevate them any higher unless you have very thick carpet, in this case you could try putting protective plates under the cones to elevate them a little bit higher. Otherwise, do not put anything under the cones. They also need a lot of room around them to deliver their full potential. We recommend at least 3 feet from the side walls and 5ft from the back wall. For amplification, you will need a wide bandwidth design that can deliver over 200W into 4ohm.

We have the original factory wooden crates, manual, speaker grilles, floor cones. Beautiful quilted cherry wood finish. We do not see any uneven fading in the wood finish at all, indicative that these speakers have been spectacularly maintained.
