The Focal Electra 1028Be II is an extreme high resolution 4 driver, 3-way compact full range floorstanding speaker, the smaller version of the 1038Be II with twin 6.5-inch bass drivers instead of three 7-inchers on the 1038Be II. Despite having over a third less in both driver area and also cabinet volume, the 1028Be II has a -3dB low frequency cut-off of 34Hz which is only 1Hz higher than the 33Hz that the 1038Be II is rated at, and the -12dB point is only 28Hz compared to 26Hz. This awesome low bass performance is achieved at the cost of efficiency. The 1028Be II will actually require a more powerful amplifier than its big brother. So if you have a room size, budget or spousal constraints, you shouldn't hesitate going with the 1028Be II and spend a little more on amplification. You will achieve very similar performance as the 1038Be II. Remember to match total SPL output if you are doing a side by side comparison, i.e. you have to turn up the volume setting with the 1028Be II for a fair comparison with the 1038Be II.
