Quick Overview
monoblock tube amplifiers (the rarest 6-chassis version!)
Product Description
A brief history of the legendary Jadis JA-800 monoblock tube amplifiers:
- the original version from the mid 90s that come in 3 chassis ($60,000 MSRP): one gargantuan dual mono power supply and two separate amplifier modules. Each amplifier module delivers 400W from 12x KT90 power tubes. The two amplifier modules can be externally bridged to deliver 800W. One could purchase another set for use as a pair of 800W monoblocks or 400W x4 modules ($120,000 MSRP).
- from 1997 to 2003: a 4-chassis version of the JA-800 with two gargantuan dual mono power supply and two amplifier modules delivering 400W x 2 channels ($90,000 MSRP). Each of the gargantuan dual mono power supply is equipped to power up to two amplifier modules. One has the option to purchase two more amplifier modules (4 total), and have them externally bridged to deliver 800W x2 channels ($120,000 MSRP).
- smaller and less impressive version manufactured from 2003 onwards, comes in 4 chassis. The much smaller power supply (not dual mono) is barely enough to power one amplifier module, cannot be expanded to power two amplifier modules. The version delivers 400W x 2 channels ($80,000MSRP).
This set of Jadis JA-800 were factory ordered as a full 6-chassis version with matching dual mono power supplies and matching amplifier modules engraved A, B, C, D. This was how they were built, tested and burned in from the factory, not added or expanded from older sets. This is the way to go. They can be used as 400W x 4 channels or 800W x 2 channels using the supplied external bridging XLR jumpers.
At this level, we will not make any sales pitch. Our retail store is located in the upper Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Stop by and we'll be happy to demonstrate and compare to other state of the art amplifiers. We guarantee that you will be impressed.
This set of factory original 6-chassis Jadis JA-800 is extremely rare, almost impossible to find. This is only our 2nd set in our 15yr history, and we move $10mil of fine audio gear a year. They are in truly excellent condition. The low level tubes are a combination of 12AU7/ECC82 and 12AX7/ECC83, and the power tubes (12x per amplifier module) and rectifier tubes (4x per power supply) are all EI KT90 Type3. All tubes test strong on our Hickok 600A tube tester. This 6-chassis JA-800 drives the tubes very gently, they have plenty of life left. We have also tried the new Tung-Sol KT120 on this JA-800 with spectacular results. If you ever need to retube in the future, we recommend the KT120. There is a good reason why the Audio Research factory has commited to using the KT120 in all their future designs.
This set of JA-800 had only one previous owner in NY, an avid collector with almost $1mil worth of high-end audio gear in his Long Island residence. All items in the collection are only sparingly used over the years. We have the original manual, pair of external bridging XLR jumpers, all power supply umbilical cords, and the special heavy duty factory power cords.
We do not have the original shipping crates, but there is no reason to worry. They will be professionally packed and secured on four wooden skids for the safest shipping and handling. MSS HiFi has extensive experience shipping the biggest and most exotic hifi equipment. This is the moment when we far outshine any other dealers. A coordinated team approach:
1) our fearless leader is a genius with a brilliant mind and classically trained in engineering, mathematics and philosophy. The wooden skid and packaging designed will be calculated for precise structural stability and integrity with margin of error analysis befitting a mega million project.
2) Our shipping manager is the most artistic and precise packaging expert. He will be directly involved in all of the packaging process.
3) We also have on our staff the Hercules of high-end audio, the strongest man in the business. If anyone questions this statement, we have video footage of Hercules carrying a 550-lb Krell MRA amplifier up two flights of stairs, and he came right back to move the second MRA without a breather. He will be doing most of the heavy lifting.
4) Finally, our general manager and master technician are two of the most thorough and anal retentive persons that you will ever come across. They will be responsible for the final inspections and checklists before the skids are handed over to the shipper.
This project requires at least a full day, over 30 total man-hour. The cost of labor and materials will exceed $2000. That you get for free. These 6-chassis Jadis JA-800 you also get for a song - insane 75% off MSRP! A once in a lifetime deal. You may never find another set for sale, especially not in such nice condition.

| Additional comments | Chargeable shipping weight is determined from the actual physical weight of the fully packaged product, and its dimensional weight (the formula is outermost LxWxH in inches divided by 139), whichever one is higher. Therefore the chargeable weight is always higher, sometimes much higher than the net weight of the unpackaged product. |
